Drive Angry

This isnt on at the cinema anymore but will be out on DVD/Blu Ray very soon so thought I would comment on it for future viewers.

This Nicholas Cage vehicle is a fuel injected testostorone  rush with very little sense to it but its enjoyable nonetheless. Amber Heard provides the eye candy as a feisty young waitress who inadvertantly falls into cages revenge/ rescue mission and she is pretty good in the majority of the time, she certainly adds some sass to the film to offset Cages stoic nature. He is a man on a mission, who has apparently escaped from hell with the God Killer a mystical gun capable of killing supernatural beings, in this case its a protection against the Accountant played by William Fichtner , the man the devil send to bring back escapees.

This character is morally ambivalent and quite amusing in his manner, he kills or allows to live seemingly at the toss of a coin and even tells a couple of young men when he is next due to meet them next. He also gives a little insight to Satan, a quiet man who is very well read apparently who is just the warden of a very strange type of prison, oh and he hates any sacrifing to him. It would be funny anyway but knowing how this would upset the bible belt makes it hilarious. The real villain of the piece is a cult leader who has murdered Cages daughter and husband and stolen their daughter for a sacrifice, which is Cages impetous for the adreniline charged chase across a few state lines and utlimately to the abandoned prison where the ritual is to take place.

There are some truly ridiculous scenes, some just to allow the use of the 3d and others for the hell of it, a shoot out whilst engaged in sexual intercourse among choice moments of hilarity. the police captain who sets out after cage isnt really used to his fullest and could have added another dimension if his few secenes were anything to go by. the ending isnt a great shocker and you know whats likely to happen from quite early on but I enjoyed it for the most part and Miss Heard made it all the more watchable, but hey thats juts me.
